"Management is very disconnected with field employees. Training is minimal. Compensation is very low. I drive almost 5,000 miles a month, but that time spent is not factored into my pay. Hostile work environment - exceed expectations, or else. Far too large of a corporation, you get lost in the shuffle and become a number. Micro-managing middle managers. Overall, poorly run company. It baffles me how they are so profitable."

"Compensation did not always reflect the amount of work performed. Also, commission rate was also horrible. Other companies sell very similar products from Ecolab's for half the price and their employees make a better commission percentage."

What do you like about working at Ecolab?

"Excellent benefits being part of Ecolab corporate. 401k, pension and stock sharing is generous."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You will interview with 10 people before you get a job offer. One would think that this kind of extreme interviewing occurs only if you're applying for a C-level position. This interview process is for an administrative assistant position. Entry sales positions also require you go through at least 5 interviews. What does that tell you about ineffective processes?"

What don't you like about working at Ecolab?

"Depends on the division you work for. Anchor divisions in St. Paul or North Carolina are very grounded with procedures and career paths. Other divisions are very fragmented and left up to their own team to manage. poor leadership at the divisional level - lack of experience setting strategy, measurable objectives and lack of experience driving accountability at all levels within the division. Poor work is ranted about but no results come of it. No succession planning, no job descriptions, no development."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Evaluate the culture and initiate change management. Find out why so many people are unhappy and fix processes that have been causing extreme workloads and inefficiency for all. Identify people with solid work experience and leadership experience to lead teams."
