"I am a recent college graduate, and have had the privilege of working alongside some of the great professors that University Of Maryland has to offer."
"Great atmosphere and great personnel. Very political arena with slow paced environment. Tough to get work accomplished in timely setting."
"This is a laboratory setting in a research institute. People are very focused on particular subject matter. There is quite a lot of freedom in picking your subject matter and doing the research required to answer your intended querries. However, control is so relaxed that one could get lost in the process of finding a good project to work on... also compensation is low and the means of progressing isn't clear."
"It's a good place. Close to DC."
"I have worked at NFLC for a year long and served as IT systems analyst and user support graduate assistant. I have been working towards managing hardware, software and network support for the (180+) staff of NFLC and also providing remote assistance to other users. I have had a very good experience working there and getting hands on experience solving many issues. I definitely have the problem solving attitude and I think this will help me in all my jobs here forward."
"A great place to work and finish your PhD while getting valuable job experience."
"Part time job. Decent place to earn enough for a student to pay bills!"
"I've worked in the Web Services department for three years. This job is purely project-based, with very reasonable due dates and 99% flexibility in terms of when you can clock in and out between classes. The supervisors are excellent, and are always there to help you if you're stuck."
"Great company! I have enjoyed my experience there."
"Graduate research assistant positions are overall a good pick in the sciences. The flexibility is unparalleled with any other job. The compensation, sure, is not great, but one can find ways, plus you are getting a free graduate degree, if you were to add tuition to your salary, it adds up to a good salary for someone with a BS or a BA."
"University of Maryland is great!"
"I highly recommend becoming a Teaching Assistant if at all possible during your years at the University of Maryland. It will help you understand the material much better, and is also very gratifying."
"I've worked for University of Maryland, math department for overall 10 months as a graduate student. Generally it's a good place on campus to work for where I learn basic working ethics and skills. I love this job and would recommend to any potential employee."
"I have been working at University of Maryland from 1 and a half years and it is a nice place to work with great benefits (tuition remission, etc.) and very flexible hours. Work is interesting, campus is beautiful for walking. Parking permits are costly and far away. Cost of living is high and traffic can be heavy getting to campus."
"University of Maryland Black Engineers Association (BES) is one of the best association to be a part of. The community service and trainings is #1 in the State of maryland."
