"The main reason why someone would become a mail carrier: it pays well. The base pay is not all that exciting; you make all your money by working constantly. I often work 6 days/wk, often and 10 hrs/day. In the past 2 months, I have made over $9K (seriously). The cons are plenty: long hrs/days, having little work-life balance, stress, and inclement weather to deal with. If you can learn to roll with the punches and suck it up, the paychecks sure make it worthwhile."

US Postal Service Employee

What do you like about working at US Postal Service?

"Hourly pay is good. I get paid a set amount on the routes I run, even if it does not take as long. When a customer gets mad I don't have to listen, just apologize and move on."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Keep your second job. Do not quit! The lack of hours will make it hard to support your family."

What don't you like about working at US Postal Service?

"It takes too long to get a regular position and the hours are not consistent, no matter how long you have been there."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop telling me how to do a job you have never done yourself. Also, try to understand that in 100 degree weather, we may not go as fast because we are trying to stay hydrated and not have a heat stroke."
