"I worked at Amgen as both a Contractor and FTE. While the company's purpose of improving / saving lives through medicine is laudable, the company management does not have a clue on how to actually run a successful company without using / abusing its employees to secure the bottom line. So typical these days for a large publicly traded company to bow to the shareholders instead of building a business that not only benefits people that need the medicine, but also the people that work at the company. Amgen needs to return to its roots as a company that cares about its employees."

"They have an excellent benefits package , and promote a balance of work and life. They are local which made the work commute very desirable. The teams I worked with were positive, cohesive and pro-active."

"This is a great company to work for, be positive and look toward the future, Amgen will be a part of the future of Big Pharma."

What don't you like about working at Amgen?

"Many times management had to approve steps in process improvement, that should have been given to the employees to discuss and approve."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My suggestion would be to empower the employees to see a vision for process improvements, make a business plan, present it, then implement, with very little management oversite."

"Contract/Temporary assignment as Administrative Coordinator to Project and Contract Services department. Worked under the direction of Manager, Tom Mendel. He and his team were excellent to work with. I enjoyed working at Amgen and look forward to future opportunities there."

"It's a really terrific place to work. I hope I get the opportunity again in the near future."

What don't you like about working at Amgen?

"I have very strong administrative and interpersonal skills and was very proficient in an Administrative Coordinator role at Amgen. I did interview for a few full-time permanent positions while there, but I believe they always hired from within the company; I wish that good, skilled candidates who are temporary staff had a little better chance to get in with this great company."

"I was a contractor so I wasn't included in the company events. Due to a hiring freeze, the promise of direct employment was not fulfilled."
