"Very low pay, lower than virtually every other local employer. Home Depot's wages are behind the times. They are starting cashiers $2/hour below minimum wage and sales specialists $1/hour below local minimum wage. I regret working here as a seasonal employee. Not only was the pay substandard, they disposed of every seasonal worker, regardless of your performance. They preferred to keep burned out permanent employees who no longer care about their jobs over hard workers who generate a lot of sales. It is disappointing."
What do you like about working at Home Depot?
"I like open communication with management, employees working well together, and the training."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Interview for the job you want, and not to just get your foot in the door. You will be at that position for a while."
What don't you like about working at Home Depot?
"Too many people put in an eight-hour day and yet cannot afford to use any of the health insurance offered. Most of the Home Depot employees are working poor."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"If the company is reporting record-breaking profits, they should pay their lower employees better. The pay difference between management and workers is too great. Approximately four employees at every store have taped up shoes. Approximately four or more employees can't afford to fix their cars, etc. This is unacceptable."
