"Simply be aware that the company is for sale and could be either merged with another financial services company or bought by private equity and each of these options could have a drastic effect on central operations (home office.)"
What don't you like about working at OneMain Financial?
"We are a subsidiary of CitI and therefore, we were negatively affected by the financial services collapse even though it was of no fault of my subsidiary. As a result, in an effort to increase capital, CitI placed my subsidiary in a Holdings Company and put us on the market for sale, which resulted in more than 2,000 of us losing our jobs."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Management at my company is under a lot of stress to reduce to spending and improve profitability, while being forced to close offices, sell loans and reduce staff. I feel as though they are doing the best they can with the hand they were dealt."
What do you like about working at OneMain Financial?
"I like the stability, vacation time, and association with Citigroup"
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Make sure you mesh well with your manager and 2 and 3-ups. If you work with a good team, it can be a good place to work. But lack of career opportunities and internal growth makes it difficult to move around."
What don't you like about working at OneMain Financial?
"Promotions and raises are minuscule. The performance review process is strictly a check box and requires no accountability from managers. Salaries can be wildly inconsistent regardless of skills or value brought to the organization."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Show stronger leadership to motivate and inspire employees. Currently, it just seems that we are stuck in how we've always done it and are just content in the mediocre position we are currently in."
