"The growing pains of becoming a large company"

What do you like about working at ANSYS?

"20 minutes to work in the opposite direction from Pittsburgh."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Interview the interviewers well. Ask as many details about the job as possible."

What don't you like about working at ANSYS?

"The low- and mid-level management has made a conscious decision to not invest in building internal experts, and has opted to buy products and expertise from external vendors. This happened because people were hired with people skills, rather than technical expertise, as the preferred criteria (really nice with people), and we cannot rely on them, because they lack the expertise (but they are really nice to talk to!) We also have a lot of people with wast organizational, but limited technical knowledge. Lack of experience working at large enterprises continues to hamper middle and lower management's decisions."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Cultivate internal experts; investigate, design, execute, adjust. The company does investigate and execute, but falls short in design and adjust."
