"No Commissions, and no way to make really big bucks."

"Pay people of profit since that WAS your problem. You have to measure and pay against that metric, to be able to improve your profit picture."

"I started there in 1980, and for 15 years it was a great place to work. Super people. A chance to learn and grow and develop. A great culture."

"They were bought by Compaq in 1997, and Compaq in turn was bought by HP in 1998.There is no DEC...... But what a great place it was in 1982-1990. We still have s monthly get together with the friends that use to work there."

"In 1995 it was about 5 years into layoffs, and a downward spiral. It was tough to decide to stay or go. With 15 years invested and strong desire to help turn it around pulling you one way, while a axe of layoff swung over your head. It was a relief when I was cut."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"What relevance does this have 13 years later My Advise, down size and focus and make the cuts and move on. Laying people off ever 6-9 months, just creates a terrible morale, that further hurts busioness and therefore leads to more lay-offs."
