"Bar none, Microsoft is the best company that I have worked for. Why? Solid management, employees are well taken care of and well compensated. Well defined career path and every one is given the opportunity to succeed, excel and contribute to the financial goal of the company. For me it was 16+ years of excitement, commitment and rewarding fun work."

What do you like about working at Microsoft?

"I like the challenges of developing products for consumer use, the excellent opportunities for advancement based on the performance of your job, and overcoming the thought that something could not be done and then doing the right thing for the product and the customer."

What don't you like about working at Microsoft?

"I don't like that they were not always supporting a work/life balance although saying it was important."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"All of management needs to be able to work with different skill sets and thoughts about how work should be done. There is more than one way to get a job completed and not talk down to employees that have a vested interest and commitment to a project."

"I dislike bureaucracy, lack of agility, and internal politics hampering the product."

"Have less politics and more interest in client needs."

"Management and human resources pay lip service to 'work-life balance'. MSFT culture allows a good deal of managerial abuse towards contractors and ICs."

"Allow easier movement out of groups if Windows CE becomes too inbred with abusive managers."
