"I'm sure it's the same with most large and even small companies, but the politics. Also it's who you know and not what you know that helps in moving up in the ranks."

"To provide more positive reinforcement to individuals, more positive recognition."

"There are lots of good people and lots of interesting work going on. But the company is so lean, there is never any time that is dedicated to people working on teams, it's very common to be on a project by yourself."

"This is a very rough environment to work in. Any person not desperate for work should avoid this corporation like the plague."
What don't you like about working at Alcoa?
"Nasty company, nasty management. Spend 95% of my time working on health and safety and cost saving programs. If you wanted someone for that why didn't you just hire another health and safety engineer? No opportunities to advance. Starts with great pay but insulting raises the rest of your career."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Have real expectations for employees. To engineer a process or to stay in production you need to invest capitol in to equipment. I can't engineer something out of thin air."

"I like the Alcoa logo. I would like it if they had a banner or a blue flag that I could hang from my back porch."

"The only suggestion I have to other people interviewing with the comany is that they should be themselves, Alcoans like to have friends and work with friends."

"There is nothing I don't like about the company. The people are great, the pay is fair, and it offers excellent opportunities to grow."

"I have no suggestions, only congratulations. I wish all companies had a managment team as good as Alcoa's."

"Know that if hired, your life will be consumed with rotating work schedules and lots of hours at work."

"Anytime company policy prevents you from attending a family member's funeral or you're a cancer patient and are being told to work chemo around your work schedule, you know something's wrong with the management, but with the number of people out of work these days management has the power to replace any job."

"Implement a work schedule that allows all of the work force the same opportunity to manage a healthy home/work balance. Lose the Yes Man culture, everyone in upper management has the same opinion and if you want to advance you will too. It's ok to have a different opinion."

"I would say that the company might need to look at how to minimize overstock inventory they produce and try to make the company more learn manufactures."

"Not being able to see my self move up in the company in a reasonable time frame."
