"I worked at AT&T twice during my career, the latest as a contractor (through Collabera Inc), from January 2012 until this past summer, when my contract expired. I had an excellent relationship with my peers and my management there. They have been very supportive and thanked me for my time there."

"I was paid well, treated well, and received fair-to-good opportunities for promotion. The products were good, too, but they were over-priced."

"Management can be a little formal and stuffy, but they're good people. Pretty straight-shooters."

What don't you like about working at AT&T?

"The periodic lay-offs. AT&T couldn't control their overheads/expenses."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Find yourselves a good CEO with some (but not too much) vision."

"Layoffs and job security became issues. I was laid off when they decided to close down our department."

"Hire back former employees instead of hiring new ones."

"Challenges, future opportunity and culture to meet those challenges, great people and work, meeting with CEOs for decision-making and guiding their approaches... I loved many things about the job."

"The company is an ocean of knowledge. You don't know much right now, and once you make it to the company, you will sound like a boiling frog."

"The job was too far from my house, the timings were too aggressive, and the product wasn't aligned with the market."

"AT&T was quite advanced, but they need more of a distributed architecture rather than all-in-one approach."

"AT&T's management team has lost sight of employee loyalty. Plus, they are too focused on saving former SBC employees."

"Open up communications with employees. Look for suggestions on how to cut cost without job reductions."
