"My salary was low. The commission rate was a shock. I sold many Black Label (most expensive) Lincoln Navigators, a large SUV that costs $105,000 out the door. My commission on each was $100. I know other dealers paid much better commissions. For example a customer wanted a 4-year-old Lexus. I found exactly what he wanted at another Autonation store; brought it on; sold it to him. The margin on the sale was $6,000, and my commission $1500. The commissions I received out of my store’s inventory was always very low. In fact, that was my largest commission."
