While being a 100% subsidiary of the Bertelsmann corporation, the NYC office claims to have a start-up culture, which is manifested in low wages, poor management and cheap to no supply at all. "Outside of sales and other exotic positions, you probably can't err to the side of being too conservative in business - when in doubt, be more held back than you may otherwise be (eg don't tell them they should leverage up)."
What don't you like about working at Bertelsmann?
"excellent second level financial managers are working under sometimes not so competent CEO/CFOs (basically, too often these are highflying PhD's with minimal true experience in the business); sometimes too convinced of superiority of German management style (which, in reality, may sometimes be slow and stolid)(and I am German, I should note)"

"Be more open to support the advancement for non-PhDs, especially in Financial line positions - look at objective (financial etc) numbers before assuming the German way is better."
