"I worked with Cargill Meat Solutions since January 2008. I started as a regular worker, inspecting meat before it is ready to be placed in a plastic bag to be shrink wrapped. I moved up as an inspector and professional in my area. I currently have about 20 different labels that have 5 numbers per label. Some of the product I take care of we call Japanese because they will be shipped to Japan. They have 7 numbers on them, so they took me a few days to learn the numbers and memorize them."

"Open positions are posted internally and they're willing invest in training to the right candidates. My location has a relaxed atmosphere. Many other locations do not."

"Find out what your salary band is ahead of time. Don't think HR and Accounting have your best interests in mind."

What don't you like about working at Cargill?

"They keep salaried employees at or just below the 25% for their job band. Lack of work life balance. Senior management does not protect its employees, but chooses to hide behind policies and catch phrases."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Protect all employees, not just the ones you are worried will sue. Quit overlooking your top performers. Pay based on job performance."

"Having a variety of depts and jobs and has some great vending machines"

"If you get an interview.....RUN! get as far from that company as you can or prepare for the intentional double talk and NEVER share personal info. The less they know the better because it WILL come back and get you."

"great insurance benefits that you will need due to constant abuse and disrespect of other coworkers and management."

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH IF A PRIVATE MATTER IS DISCUSSED! STOP LYING AND GROW UP!"

"It was very smothering. You had to fight to get your point across."

"Listen to the employess ideas and suggestions. Offer more family benefits."

"Revenue is not good. There're some cut off in cost"

"It is a great company that is working to be more progressive. They offer perks like compressed work weeks and telecommuting, however some businesses within the company still will not approve that benefit. Get it in writing before starting if you are interested in these types of work arrangements."

What don't you like about working at Cargill?

"I'm just not interested in the work unfortunately, my job is very much outside of my areas of interest and ability"

"More structure to increase high throughput productivity, emphasize career development and utilize the DiSC profiles for better employee engagement"

"Horrible management, no career development opportunities, bad employees just get moved to different locations, no collaboration, hierarchy mentality, no recognition, overburdened with process"

"Respect employees, increase recognition, reprimand bad behavior, increase workplace diversity"

"They are very stable and honest and very supportive. It was an honor working for them."

"The only drawback I had was too much moving around when my children were in high school"

"Liked it all, all 12 years. The times I didn't like working for them is now, cause I'm not."
