"I work in the PBM sector of CVS/Caremark, and do not enjoy the work settings and overall treatment of the technicians. Granted, it is a glorified factory job and production is the bottom line, as with any factory job, but the salaries are not competitive for pharmacy technicians. There is also a dichotomy that exists between the staff as the pharmacists are provided much more leeway and amenities, such as the ability to sit in the pharmacy, that technicians are not afforded. "With the recent weather issues of sub-zero temps, CVS Caremark decided to call all employees on a Sunday evening letting them know that daycare closings would not be a valid excuse to call off on Monday. We would have to find another way. I have daycare because there is no other way. I'm sure the genius who decided this has nannies and their partner probably doesn't have to work. How wonderful for them. Thanks for threatening my job CVS. You really know how to treat your employees expcially with pizza! Sincerely, Working Mom"
"Not the best place to work for at all, look the other way and find something better if you can."
What do you like about working at CVS?
"I enjoyed the majority of the people with whom I worked. You are typically left alone by supervisors and managers unless you make a significant error in your work. Luckily, I already have another job lined up but having CVS Caremark on your resume is a plus!"
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you are going to be working as a pharmacist or a senior level manager, then it's probably a good place to work. As for call centers and entry level positions, go somewhere else."
What don't you like about working at CVS?
"No career advancement were available in the department. The pay is horrible and you must meet your monthly quota of orders worked or else you are written up. You typically feel like you are not cared for, like basically you're just there to work and you really have no say in what goes on. Starting wage is low compared to other companies and the raises are a joke. I was a part-time employee so there is no benefits I ever got."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Appreciate your employees and make an effort to show that you care about them. The incentives you offer are not enough for us to work harder."
