Engineering Intern
in Tremont, PA

What do you like about working at Dayton Superior?

"I was given the opportunity to work on my own as much as I felt comfortable. My mentor was the Senior Engineer, but my actual boss worked out of another plant. None of the management at Dayton was directly responsible for managing the Engineers to avoid conflicts of interest when it came to production numbers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be honest and share any relevant experience you have in the classroom. Don't be afraid to ask questions as this shows interest as well as competency. If you know what you're looking at, you'll know what questions to ask."

What don't you like about working at Dayton Superior?

"At times there wasn't enough work to be done by myself and 2 other engineers that was actually engineering related, so there was some 'busy work' thrown in that involved production numbers and productivity updates which I really didn't think we had business working with. Also, the company is union-based and the union was extremely unfriendly when it came to engineering working on the equipment."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Work with the union to determine a compromise for Engineering to be more directly involved with the maintenance and repair of shop equipment and machinery that we are otherwise to diagnose/repair."
