"If there were no recession, this would be a great place to work."
What do you like about working at eBay?
"I was hired as a contractor to perform a build (out) of an existing data center. I learned a lot about working at an enterprise data center and gained some great experience. It was amazing to work with the best technology that was available on the market and it was a great feeling to work on such a well-known network as eBay's. The employees were treated very well and I enjoyed the occasional BBQ lunches that was provided for us. I learned a lot."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"I would say that the team concept is of the most importance and that if you can fit on the team you will be alright."
What don't you like about working at eBay?
"I had been working there for about six months when I was let go. I was a contractor but thought that I was going to continue on and become an employee. I was finishing an IT degree at the time so I'm not sure if I was chosen to be laid-off because of the nature of the economy but I was a little surprised. I would have appreciated getting a little more of a description."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I think the upper management were impressive and were able to resolve any problems that were to arise in the workplace, but the direct supervisors were not able to get upper management's directions to the rest of the team. Better communication skills are necessary for the success of the team. Because of the immediate nature of troubleshooting sometimes you have to make an educated guess. However it should be kept to a minimum."
