"I thought that when e// bought Nortel they were gonna crack the whip. Nope!!!"

What do you like about working at Ericsson?

"I loved the work itself. Providing seamless solutions for our customers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you have kids, kiss them goodbye. The Latin demographic is very low in there. There is a lot of nepotism going on. Go in strong and with good LTE knowledge. You might regret it..."

What don't you like about working at Ericsson?

"Management sucks. The Wireless operations department is run exactly like Nortel was run when it tanked. Field engineer is just a field tech. Above me there was my work at home supervisor, my work at home Manager, My fly all over just to have dinner and schmooze Director, and then finally the president of operations. None of them do any actual work, just conference calls all day while the field techs are out all alone with no materials and very minimal support. There are no advancement opportunities because Ericsson has a policy where they lay off 10% of their worst and then hire all Pakistani, and Indian New graduates with Doctorates. These are guys that don't know the difference between a multi-mode and single mode fiber cable. I know, I was there fixing, and doing all the actual troubleshooting for them. In an all hands meeting I asked a High level Manager about why we as field jerks had no chance for advancement. My prior manager before a departmental change told this other manager to sit down because he was going to answer the question. Right there in front of everybody he told me that the reason we could not advance is because we expected to get paid for training. I about blew up but nobody said anything. I called HR and guess what, final warning for not getting along with fellow employees."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Ericsson must disassemble that Nortel mess or they will go down the same road."

What do you like about working at Ericsson?

"The benefits, and the professionalism of the people that work for the corporation."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are wiling to relocate to Plano Texas you will have the opportunity to compete for positions within the company, if you are a remote employee you will be valued but there is no upward mobility."

What don't you like about working at Ericsson?

"Company is slow and people are scared to make simple decisions without there being a consensus. Promotion is slow and sometimes regressive in my case coming in from an acquisition. To really be promoted you have to be at one of the Major Offices, which I am not."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"We are mobility company that would like to take the next step and become IP company. The company needs a new infusion at the executive level to make that happen. Currently it is only rhetoric, there is no substance behind the drive. People revert back the product lines they have been selling and have successful selling. I would take the John Chambers approach to the IP world, 1) show a new vision of where the world should be, 2) drive the product lines that will achieve the vision. Reward the folks that get the vision and execute on the strategy."
