"I worked at GDRS for about 3 years. It was a fun company to work for. The tasks I was appointed to were always different and I was allowed to work independently and make many decisions that affect the course of the projects."

"No, do not waste your time. DoD work is risky right now."

"Got laid off from the job due to budgets."

"Decent compensation, flex hours and the ability to work on some very cool systems."

"Do not be surprised if things appear a little behind-the-times and do not let if fool you. There are some cool products here and management is enthusiastic about them. You should mirror this."

What don't you like about working at General Dynamics?

"Opportunities within the company are shrinking and I don't see that turning around for many years."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop promising opportunities that have not been locked down as if it is a sure think. We have heard these promises before."

"The managers and colleagues were fantastic. I had an excellent team lead."

"I did not interview with the company. The contract company hired me and sent me there."

What don't you like about working at General Dynamics?

"I did not like to work on military attack vehicles."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"None; they did a great job. My immediate manager, Greg Bagwell was excellent."

"The work is fun if you like engineering, but the business surrounding it has made some poor decisions that has forced them to squeeze more out of engineers than they should."

"Find out what the company is really like. They believe all engineers are created equal, which is not true. They will probably pick you up if you are qualified, but really evaluate the fit as somewhere you really want to work instead of just someone that will hire you."

What don't you like about working at General Dynamics?

"They commit to too much and squeeze the engineers to make up for it."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would put more emphasis on good estimation so that we don't commit to contracts and schedules that are unreasonable."

"I make enough money to live on my own without worrying about bills."

"Be prepared for a WHOLE lot of tedium, thankless work, and somewhat insulting pay adjustments (with no bonuses ever)."

"Permeating feeling that your work is unrewarded and that there is always the risk of mass layoffs. No bonuses or reward for the engineers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop the unpaid overtime requirement on some projects. Treat employees like more than company assets. Move into more modern and flexible work schedules."

"Lots of opportunity but extremely poor upper management."

"Other engineers were great. The building and location was excellent."

"Company puts pride in self-starters and self-motivators. Willing to work overtime for extended periods is a plus for them."

What don't you like about working at General Dynamics?

"Unpaid mandatory overtime without even 40 hours of work a week for six months straight and mandatory Saturdays for work that could be done any day. All with no end in sight."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay more attention to the work individuals are responsible for. Take a few classes in Software Estimation."

"Just be yourself and try to be confident. The people at General Dynamics are very down to earth."

What don't you like about working at General Dynamics?

"Sometimes the work was a little repetitive and it lost my interest at times. I would need to step away and come back at times to retain my focus."

"I would like for management to see the skills that people obtain and see how they could be a nice fit for the position."
