RN Staff Educator

Crescent Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located in scenic Bennington, VT, is actively seeking an experienced Nurse Educator for our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will have prior experience leading and training clinical staff in a long-term care setting. A current VT Registered Nurse license is required.

DUTIES:

·       Coordinates all educational programs for licensed and unlicensed staff.

·       Identifies essential competencies for licensed and unlicensed staff and assures appropriate educational opportunities exist to promote the growth and development of staff.

·       Assures all necessary mandatory education (fire safety, infection control, resident rights, Hazardous Communication, Sexual Harassment, HIPPA, etc.) are available for all staff and required attendance is tracked.

·       Coordinates the orientation program.

·       Maintains current employee health files.

·       Manage TB screening program.  Ensure appropriate documentation for testing exists in employee health files.

·       Coordinates administration and tracking of required employee vaccinations.

·       Monitor and investigate employee injuries and/or exposures.  Works cooperatively with Occupational Health in managing employee injuries and illnesses.  Identify, assist, counsel and refer employees who have been exposed to blood/body fluid.  Inform Director of Nursing, Administrator and Medical Director per protocol.

·       Conduct nursing rounds of assigned units periodically throughout the day to monitor and evaluate the quality, timeliness, and appropriateness of the care being provided.

·       Promotes compliance with facility policies and procedures and resident’s rights and all local, state, and federal regulations.

·       Maintains facility safety, environmental and infection control standards.

·       Demonstrates expertise in clinical skills and serves as a resource for other staff in performance improvement activities.

·       Demonstrates a positive work attitude and supports the mission of the facility.

·       Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Current VT RN license required
• Current CPR Certification
• Min. 3 yrs. exp. in Long-Term Care settings – experience with Dementia Care & Huntington’s Care preferred
• 2 years management experience preferred
• 1 year staff education experience preferred
• Excellent Communication Skills required
• Evidence of basic leadership skills and supervision
• Ability to evaluate the knowledge and skills of others
• Flexible hours required

Crescent Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a charming, well-maintained, 90-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility located in Bennington, VT.  Crescent Manor is home to a 40 bed Dementia Special Care Unit and a 22 bed Special Care Huntington’s Unit.   Our staff is committed to ensuring the highest quality of life and care for all our residents, in a warm, nurturing environment. 

The successful candidate will receive a $3500 sign on bonus along with a very generous compensation, benefits and PTO package.
