Position: HADR Architect
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Duties:
This a 3-6 month assignment (depending on the conversion aspect).
Remote, with considerations in AZ a plus, but by no means a requirement.
The HADR Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for enterprise IT environments. The role involves collaborating with IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure that all mission-critical systems are resilient to failures and that data recovery processes are efficient and reliable. The architect will play a key role in assessing risks, defining business continuity strategies, and improving the organization's overall IT resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery (HADR) strategies for enterprise systems, applications, and databases.
- Evaluate current infrastructure to identify potential risks and recommend improvements for availability and recovery.
- Develop and document HADR architectures, procedures, policies, and plans to ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and network teams to ensure the implementation of appropriate HADR configurations.
- Create and execute DR (Disaster Recovery) testing schedules to validate recovery processes and identify gaps.
- Recommend tools and technologies for enhancing availability, failover, backup, and data recovery capabilities.
- Design solutions for data replication, clustering, load balancing, and failover mechanisms.
- Analyze the impact of changes to the environment on existing HADR setups and advise on potential risks.
- Monitor the performance of HADR setups and troubleshoot any issues related to replication, failover, or recovery.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies for data availability and recovery.
- Stay up to date with emerging HADR technologies and industry best practices.
Skills:
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in IT architecture, with a focus on high availability and disaster recovery.
- Extensive knowledge of HADR technologies such as clustering, replication, load balancing, and backup solutions.
- Experience with various database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Education:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience in DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) related to data recovery and availability.
