Description
SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team of ICBM weapon system analysts. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to the critical Department of Defense (DoD) mission of nuclear deterrence by supporting the sustainment and enhancement of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) leg of the United States Nuclear Triad.
In this role, you will play a key role in supporting the Sentinel Program’s Command & Launch (C&L) Division, with a focus on acquiring and integrating command & control capabilities for the next-generation ICBM. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert guidance and support to Sentinel program leaders on all aspects of command & control throughout the acquisition process.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on weapon system command & control, including launch consoles and command data processing.
- Oversee ICBM codes/cryptography to ensure the security, confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of nuclear launch codes and commands.
- Support ICBM targeting systems, focusing on the processing of strategic aim points.
- Collaborate on Nuclear Command, Control & Communications (NC3) systems, ensuring the integrity of national communications systems used for receiving Presidential nuclear orders.
- Evaluate and integrate ICBM command pathways, including hardline and RF networks for voice and data transmission.
- Assist in the development and implementation of airborne launch control capabilities aboard US Navy E-6B aircraft.
- Provide oversight on actuation and mechanical systems such as missile suspension systems, launcher closure door systems, ballistic gas generators, and missile umbilical retractors.
- Manage power distribution and endurance systems, including backup generators, emergency batteries, and HVAC systems.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of physical security systems, including motion sensors, visual sensors, and other delay features.
- Work closely with Air Force stakeholders to evaluate and integrate command & control equipment into the Sentinel weapon system.
- Assist in the review and assessment of Sentinel’s prime contractor designs, documentation, architectures, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products related to weapon system command & control.
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of related experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years of related experience
- Knowledge or experience working with engineering tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture and DOORS is desirable.
- Strong understanding of ICBM systems and nuclear deterrence principles.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
