"Hired by Kiewit 60 minutes after being terminated at SSOE. Formal last day of work for SSOE was 15 May 2012; on that day I moved out of my apartment in Ann Arbor. I started work at Kiewit on 18 May 2012. At the time there was massive hiring of engineers from Missouri and Kansas universities. We had a very young staff and a Google / Facebook type culture. It was a really fun place to work. Helped my bowling team at Kiewit go from the last place to first place by changing the brew during the pitcher round and changing the attitude about winning vs. just want to have fun - not fun losing every single game."
"Kiewit hired me within minutes of leaving SSOE; on my last official day at SSOE, 15 Jun 2012, I moved out of my apartment in Ann Arbor to relocate to Kiewit in Lenexa, KS, where I started work on 18 Jun 2012: movers said it takes about 3 months to move out of Ann Arbor when the University of Michigan Spring Session is completed. When I said I was going to work for Kiewit, I was put to the top of the list, and got the same movers that Pizza King, Thomas Monahan got for his relocation to Florida. Arriving at Kiewit, there was a significant number of recent graduates being hired and the culture of the company was similar to Facebook and Google. Being one of the very few chemical engineers in the company, I was designated Mechanical Design Engineer 6, and placed under the company president until they decided where to place me in the new evolving organization chart. The president was dynamic and a great leader."
"While Kiewit remains at the top of its field for construction. The work-life balance is not compensated for those operating in the field. Kiewit attempts a positive company culture without fulfilling its commitment to the employees. The people at Kiewit at Fantastic, but I feel that those in higher management have lost touch with those doing the real work."
"Kiewit was a great place to work with everything you could ever need, but it did lack a certain personal aspect due to the sheer size of the company. The people are great for the most part but your coworker is interchanged frequently do to the ever-changing environment."
"Great company to work for. Very large operation throughout the USA"
"bad company. do not recommend"
"I have worked at Kiewit for 6 years, and I have a good experience so far where I get to learn a lot. They are willing to give you a lot of responsibilities right out of the gate, and you can excel depending on your effort."
"Long hours but you get the support you need to be successful. Gain experience fast and work where you want to work. Hard to move up with the talent pool being so large, but once you move up and are noticed, management puts a lot of trust in you."
