"I love the flexibility of my job, the encouragement to explore new technologies and apply them to the Libraries. I've been actively involved in creating a social media platform for the libraries. It's been fun creating shared Pinterest boards, loading animoto videos into vimeo, and using roki. I am able to keep up with my field and encouraged to attend and present at professional development events and conferences. I hate that when folks think of librarians they still think of card catalogs and printed books. Librarians are now managing electronic technology, fighting for access with the digital divide, figuring out site licenses and authentication. We don't get any respect for being technology savvy or early adopters. For that reason I may stop fighting the good librarian fight and go back to my previous life as a software developer."
