"When they offer you their initial pay rate offer, don't accept it. I did and now I realize I am the lowest paid cashier in this company."

"The cashiers are the disposable pawns of retail. Not a lot of respect is given and it takes time and luck to get anywhere."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Maybe management should try respecting their crew a little more and helping out every once in a while, instead of being crazed power hogs that act like they don't have time for petty requests such as helping a customer with board cutting."

"Do not delegate 99% of your work to employees. Do not act like you are better than your employees."

"Lowe's is a terrible company to work for--almost as bad as Walmart."

"Go to school, get a degree in management and then don't be so lazy when it comes time to help your employees."

"Keep up the good work. Everything they are doing has benefited the company in some way."

"The only reason to work at Lowe's is to be treated awfully by management and customers."

"Management has no idea what they are doing, and one day there will be a policy telling you to do one thing and the next day a policy will be made to never do that thing ever again."

"Treat subordinates as equals, and I would not flip out over minuscule setbacks."

"Lowe's pays more than other retail jobs, and it's easier to get a full-time position."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It's a job. If you're a dude, you're set, and unless you are completely lazy, you'll be promoted eventually. If you're a woman, unless you've been in a skilled vocation or are really lucky, you will be a cashier and that is all you will be. They might add a head in front of that title, but you will be stuck on the front end unless they are really desperate for someone on the sales floor or in the back. They will claim you are the most important employees but they will treat you like crap."

What don't you like about working at Lowe's?

"It's the people. Customers can be good or bad; it comes with the territory. Some co-workers I could do without - the ones who don't say a thing to you until they need or want something, the ones who don't do anything but still manage to keep their job, and the ones who think they're better than you and talk down to you. I don't like the managers who will not back policy because they believe it's good customer service or are too lazy to deal with a problem, and the ones who don't do anything."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would follow the rules set out for all employees instead of thinking they are for everyone else, and I wouldn't be so capricious about what my employees' tasks are. I wouldn't micromanage just because I'm bored and can't sneak off to the back to talk with my friends."

What do you like about working at Lowe's?

"The management at Lowe's was really good at their jobs and they were really fair."

"Just be honest and stay focused, and it will all pay off."

What don't you like about working at Lowe's?

"I was not happy at times doing returns, but only because some of the customers had brought back stolen merchandise and wanted to return it as though they just bought it themselves."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I wouldn't change a thing. It was a really good experience working for Lowe's. I would like to go back but they are not hiring at this moment."

"It is slow to receive full-time and move up the ranks."

"Give employees full-time or promotions when the opportunity arises. Allow someone the full-time benefits when they are working the hours and want the status, and/or allow them to be promoted to a better paying position."
