"Overall, Mercury is a pretty good company to work at. The supervisors and managers (from what I've experienced) were completely professional while being relatable and easy to talk to. The only downside to this company is that there seems to be a lack of diversity."
"Its a great company! I really enjoyed working there."
"I have worked for Mercury Insurance for 15 years. The insurance industry is an environment that is structured and is primarily based on customer service and interpretation and implementation of the policies and procedures. I have excelled in this industry for 30 years based on my integrity, Honesty and goal driven personality."
"This is a great place to work. Good team members, supervisor and just an overall great place to a a part of. I highly recommend this company. I would love to go back!"
"My overall experience so far was good."
"I've been working in mercury insurance for past 1 year but since I'm a contractor, I 'm looking for full time opportunities."
"Great company with a family first attitude. Inceedibly approachable leadership. Good compensation and good benefits. Established in 1961 and helped transform the California insurance industry. Would recommend this company."
"I've worked for Mercury for over a decade and have seen its steady decline. The once-family friendly, 'for-the-employee' based company has now made the non-executive employees simply a number. Salaries are being lowered and capped, pay scales are being vastly reduced, and yet work output is at an all time high. Within a matter of months, the company has changed all major systems, claims, payroll, review structures etc and still continues to harp on numbers, saying that not enough is being done by the employee and management. Since the founder stepped down, Mercury has fallen into a pit of stress-leave cases and resignations. The company refuses to acknowledge the facts and states these employees were "disgruntled". 10 years ago I would have said YES Mercury is a great place to work, they really do take care of their employees and customers, but now, I would say for your own sanity and health, keep looking elsewhere. The downward spiral Mercury has been in the last several years is not even close to being over."
"Great place to work with a great Christmas bonus and a great team."
"Our CEO only cares about saving money. Kind of reminds me of a reverse Robin Hood. Employees get minimal raises for doing a ton of work while the executives reap the benefits. Bonuses driven by the business and hard work of the California employees are shared with the other states who do half of what we do. Company suspended attendance bonuses when the economy took a dive but never brought them back."
"Mercury has several very old applications that are due to retire. The company is not looking to expand its core business outside its auto and homeowner business for a few more years. Mercury is very frugal company."
"I have been a contractor at Mercury over 4 years. Four years is a long term for a contractor to stay in any given company."
"It was a position I enjoyed, so I can't think of any real complaints I would have besides the fact that it was a temporary position."
"I was asked to do more financial analysis and SOX audit prep than writing."
