"I liked the flexible work schedule, friendly co-workers and a boss with a hands off, let him run with it management style."

"The comapny uses situational interviewing, expecting applicants to answer in a STAR format. For those unfamiliar with the term STAR stands for situation, thinking, action and results."

What don't you like about working at National Grid?

"Upper managment decided that it was in the company's best interest to outsource IS and only keep project managers and contact managers in house."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My opinion is that people with up-to-date technical skills and practical IS project experince is resource that ever mid-sized and large company should keep in-house. I would work to bring that expertise back in house or risk a falling out with your contractors causing a void in the support of your IS platforms."

"The work I do is satisfactory. The benefits and bonus plan is wonderful."

"Good sound company but not on the cutting edge. If you are looking for a company that is on the cutting or bleeding edge of technology, it is not National Grid."

"Technology is very behind the times. The infrastructure makes it difficult to be efficient."

"Improve technology to make employees more productive. The infrastructure is an obstacle most of the time."

"No. I don't believe there are any IT positions available except for contract work and even those would be through the outsouce suppliers."

"My job was outsourced as well as that of a lot of other talented people."

"National Grid had an excellent IT department in Syracuse. It shouldn't have been broken up."
