"I have been at Nielsen for the past two years. During my time I have seen growth in my position and responsibilities, but at this point, my role has stagnated. I would like to see more movement as well, where those who go above and beyond the aspects of their roles are rewarded. It seems that politics play a heavy role in the workings of this company. I had been told by previous colleagues that people do not get promoted until at least two years. Fortunately, I was forthright and early enough to receive it earlier. Although the process of getting promoted took over nine months and I had been misled by management a number of times. Overall, Nielsen provides a great working environment and incredible work-life balance, but people there lack intrinsic motivation to succeed and the company moves at a slow pace. I think that as an initial launching point it is great to have a company like Nielsen on your resume as it is a company most people will recognize, but don't see much value staying longer than two years."
"The company is the top in marketing analytics. I enjoyed working with brilliant co-workers and having a good work-life balance."
"I can't say much about Nielsen because they let me go after they purchased my old company Arbitron Inc. Nut, Arbitron was a great company and I'm sorry to see them go."
"Nielsen is a great company to work for. People are nice and genuinely interested in professional success of others. They have a lot of resources which help in career building all along. There are a lot of opportunities and cross-functional teams to explore and move on."
"My company was recently acquired by Nielsen. In a short period of time, our salaries have been cut, we have been relocated to NYC (from New Providence, NJ), our benefits cost $5000 more per year and we no longer receive a yearly bonus."
