On a typical day, a shipping clerk prepares and inspects shipments, takes inventory of stockrooms and continually maintains all records.
Skillset: Shipping clerks generally have strong communication and organization skills. They must have working knowledge of computers and other electronic equipment and be able to handle some light to heavy lifting. Multitasking and management skills are also very helpful.
Education: The requirements for a shipping clerk position are about the same as most entry level warehouse and manufacturing positions. A high school diploma or GED is accepted by most companies. Some companies may have specific training requirements.
