"I worked at Steak ‘n Shake since last month I left because they wouldn’t give me flexible hours they worked me 5 pm tell 2 am I couldn’t work tell that time I liked it there though I find Steak ‘n Shake to be a really good company"

"When i started with steak n shake the store i was assigned to was in trouble. The employees definitely had a moral problem and the P&L was in dire circumstances. I have always been a team builder and with a lot of coaching the core team turned around and became productive. The next step i did was implement a bi weekly inventory to find where the problems with P&L lie. after teaching the asst managers how to build pars and be proactive rather than reactive my store achieved being in the black for the first time. My franchisee is very happy with my performance but only having 2 stores the ability of moving up is not going to happen and I'm looking for a new venue that can use my talents."

"I didnt like the meal rushes. They cinsisted of approximately 90 minutes of break neck speed to prepare the food and then it was slow for abotu 90 minutes."

"Run! Find somewhere else to work. You will be abused and asked to sign a paper that says they waive the right to pay you overtime and alter your hours as they see fit."

"The management team was utterly useless. Most of them time, they had no clue what they were doing and didn't have a problem throwing their weight around. My yearly pay was less than $20k."

"I would tell management to double check the qualifications of their employees and make sure training is available for everyone."

"there is no appreciation or respect for the employees. managers are punished by corporate for being soft (read:caring too much) about the people who bust their butts every day for them. you are expected to essentially be on call at all times, personal time in nonexistent. they use every tool to knock down bonus amounts. average work week is 60+ hours. forget the vacation time they promise, you are never approved for it. anyone can call in a fake complaint and you will be suspended/fired for it. miserable environment."

"do not take a salary position, they will own you."

"get an anti-anxiety prescription first, 7 of 9 managers in my district took them to deal with the stress."

"invest in the people on the front lines (cooks, servers), they are the ones running the show."

"I liked that we used to be about our people, that we cared not only about our customers but about the people that worked for us. We were a family based company and helped each other through good and not so great times."

"They need to understand that the job is not in and out. You must spend time to make it work, you must wear a lot of hats, stay positive, don't let the stress get to you, don't forget who you are as a person."

"The company has went through several changes over the last 3 years, I feel that we have last track of the importance of taken care of our people along with taking care of our guests, We have also lost track of training and the importance of training correctly and effectively."

"Not to forget that we all go through tough times and we are all human, we must always respect one another and look out for one another even when it is hard to do. Not to forget where we came from."

"There was no support by anyone in the entire company. The first 120 days on the job, I only talked to my boss one time. He would not return my calls or my emails and I was left out in the cold"
