"T.D. Williamson is an oil and gas machinery manufacturing and servicing company out of Tulsa that grew too big, too fast to keep up with modern technology, manufacturing methods, safety compliance or business management. There are Williamson family members imbedded throughout the company and its locations within Tulsa that have been bred with a highly overinflated sense of self entitlement and power. On my 5th week at the company I was told that the owner's daughter did not like me and to ‘lay low’ because if she didn’t like you she would have you fired. The lack of a solid management is disheartening to any professional who seeks work satisfaction from being part of a successful team. The management here are hesitant to make any decisions but are all too eager to ‘write people up’ for small infractions. Yet they will not give their full support or an ounce of attention to product quality, scheduling and safety unless it is reactive (ie: a customer complaint, missed shipment or employee injury – even near misses are given very little attention. ) There is no use of available talent or capabilities. They have a room full of mechanical engineers but they cannot get an engineer to look at a 75 year old piece of equipment for a possible ‘in-house fix’. There is very little communications as there is no set leadership team for this facility. There is no personal accountability especially with issues of personnel safety, process safety or safety compliance. No one has a requirement to participate in safety outside of their assigned tasks and even that is lackluster at best. The plant has tried to follow Six Sigma for several years but fails to gain any ground. There is no management of change or any process to track or assign any action items. Policies are as rare as unicorns and if there is one it is so hidden or too old and too vague to be of use to anyone. Each department does their ‘own thing’ and blame is passed like a white elephant gift at Christmas."
