Submit a Review"Students are not interested in learning how to use their minds. On the other hand, teaching problem solving is challenging. The IT part of my experience was mostly rewarding, even though my experience with poultry producers and the administration at SFA did not produce the desired result, and the chicken that you buy at the supermarkets are saturated with antibiotics."
"I only like the flexibility. I do not like the salary, it should be higher, especially for subs that have a Master's Degree, plus prior work experience. I do not like the fact that substitutes are taken for granted and taken advantage of by the school administration. I do not like the fact that the DOE doesn't support their subs and lets them twist in the wind when there is a serious issue at a school."

"Love the children especially watching them reach their milestones and growing up."

"Be ready to work long hours, do lots of paperwork and physical labor."
What don't you like about working at Bright Horizons?
"Management plays favorites, tells you one thing and does another. Co teachers are often bossy instead of working together and hardly appreciate the help. Pay is low for the long hours and grueling work we do. Instead of telling us about new openings they tell us we should know. Management hires new staff and can barely manage hours for workers who have been there longer."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Better management of time between teachers without backlash, more teacher appreciation, higher pay."

"The only positive in this whole field is the kids."

"Don't do it. Run, don't walk. It's not worth the stress."
What don't you like about working at Nassau County Public School?
"According to upper administration, we are disposable. We are not respected and treated like we're garbage. They worry more about the shoes we wear than the dedication we provide every day. The buildings are ancient, dusty, dirty, and there is no air conditioning. We have to provide our own tissues and soap. What world do we live in that we have to bring our own soap"

"Be sincere. Stop beating us down. If we felt respect from administration, then you'll get more out of us."

"Seeing students achieve, grow, and mature into well rounded adults overcoming learning difficulties and hangups and watching them have fun."

"As long as you are wlling to work on an assembly line you are good to go. Creativity is less and less valued, if you wan the job you will need to conform."
What don't you like about working at Northeastern Local Schools?
"Management of education has chaned drastically, lack of leadership at every level has only served to produce confusion, a loss of confidence and a dramatic and rapid decaying of morale."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop demeaning the teaching profession with the pervasive atmosphere of distrust, dictating that teachers cannot be permitted to develop and administer their curriculum ... This approach not only strangles creativity, it smothers the development of critical thinking in our students and assumes a one-size-fits-all mentality more appropriate to the assembly line than to the classroom."

"My co-workers are amazing! They help me come up with new and creative ways to teach my students. They keep me going when I want to give up and quit."

"Do not work for this organization! They only care that have enough students enrolled in the school. Our school is nothing like it was under our last administrative team, I can say I truly felt that team cared for us."
What don't you like about working at Charter Schools USA?
"Our administrative team ignoring their part in our school's downfall. They seems as if they are truly disconnected from the problems and have not stopped to reflect on their roles. I hate that our CRTs cannot help us the way they should and they are truly amazing ladies."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Make your teachers feel empowered. Trust that your teachers can do the job you have hired them to do and if they can't terminate them. Do not keep ineffective teachers it is harming our students."

"This was the most motivated and intellectual group of students I have taught in my career."

"I believe this specific campus has since closed, but I would definitely work at another University Charter school."
What don't you like about working at University of Texas?
"Many of the parents at the school believed that they could dictate methodology to teachers."

"I believe this particular school has since closed, but the biggest suggestion that I would give is to trust that the teachers know what they are doing."
What do you like about working at Aldine Independent School District?
"You truly are the world to some of these kids that have no good examples or role models in their life. Getting to see them grow and learn and building the relationships with them is gratifying."

"Please go into the classrooms and see for yourself what you will be working with. When I started they played it up like they had so much technology and they had a lot of teacher resources, etc. Well, then I get my classroom and I have 3 computers, 2 that don't work and the one that does is a big box that is slower than a turtle!"
What don't you like about working at Aldine Independent School District?
"I do not like the fact that the leaders in the district jump on every bandwagon that comes by. We may start off the year focusing on one new program to implement, then 2 months later a grander, greater, and shinier program pops up, and all of a sudden all the work you did implementing that old program into your classroom is over, because now we are focusing on the new one. And we will be doing classroom observations next week and need to see it implemented. This is a REQUIREMENT.' How can you even see any student growth if you are just bouncing around through different programs It is senseless."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would actually communicate with my teachers, ask them what support they need. Ask them what would help them do their job better. I would focus on things that actually affect student learning instead of irrelavent and petty things such as teacher dress and other micro-managing things."
What do you like about working at School District 39 Vancouver?
"It does feel good to create satisfying relationships with students and help them to achieve their goals. The students can be entertaining. Relative job security once you have a few years of seniority."

"If you don't love it, teaching isn't a just for now job. You'll wake up, 7 years later and realize you're very unhappy and desperate to find your true calling."
What don't you like about working at School District 39 Vancouver?
"You work and work ...and work, and then you get bashed by the provincial government for being a slacker. This is not a job that gives back enough to make up for how much you have to give."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"There are too many people working at the board - way too much overhead. The money could be much better directed into teaching jobs and in-class support for students."

"You must be prepared to work long hours, deal with a lot of managing, and must be patient in order to receive good feedback"

"Be more open to new ideas, not force everyone to take on so many tasks, not force everyone to work overtime"

"Less is more. Don't try to do so much, which pushes your staff and your budget, meaning that no one gets what they need or deserve."

"negative people; no clear expectations; obsession with money and not willing to spend anything, even for important problems; only reactive not proactive; not innovative"

"I loved how we helped each other with ideas and problem solving. I loved the cheerfulness of the faculty members and the students. I loved that we shared a goal and a community."

"Go into this school with the understanding that teaching is not a job but a vocation. It calls for dedication and the willingness to work as part of a team."
What don't you like about working at Divine Redeemer School?
"I do wish we had the funds to bring in more up- to- date technology for the staff and the students."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"My former principal was very concerned about his staff and their professional growth. I had little time with the present principal but for the time I did have with her, I wished that she had communicated with us more. She was a new principal though, and was doing the best she could through her first year."
