Univision Careers & Info

Univision Overview

Univision is the United States' largest Spanish language television network. Univision has a wide range of program entertainment including music channels, television sitcoms, movies, and the highly popular telenovela soap operas. According to the Nielson ratings, the morning news program Despierta America is Univision's highest rated show.

Univision's roots can be traced back to San Antonio, Texas, where Raul Cortez created KCOR-TV. The fledgeling network was sold six years later to a group of investors. After turning a modest profit, the new Spanish International Network branched out to other markets including Paterson, New Jersey, and Los Angeles. The company continued to grow and was officially changed to Univision in 2006. After operating in the red for many years, Saban Capital Group purchased Univision and its debt for nearly $14 billion.
