2.7While I absolutely love the job I do as a Line Producer, the work environment is extremely toxic. Unfortunately, managers do a very poor job in managing the day-to-day operations. My supervisor knows very little about television production or television news. In fact his skills as a manager leave a lot to be desired as well. He has created an environment where he uses gossip as a tool to divide his staff, attempting to pin employees against one another to hide his lack of skills.
4.2Voice of America has a mission with a meaningful purpose. I have personally known people who have learned English listening to VOA and I have read many testimonies of people who have relied on VOA for their news and information outside their own countries. I have also had the good fortune of meeting and befriending many people during my years there. As an agency, VOA has gone through multiple transitions and will continue to do so as the media landscape continues to change and grow.
4.6This is a federal government operation governed by a board of directors my suggestions would have been to the board not to eliminate independent contractors for their jobs are vital too.
