"Too many responsibilities for part time employee , open accounts , sales numbers difficult for part time people to obtain. Very tired of lack of staff, was hired in one department and working sometimes in my department plus two or three other departments. For a company this large, why do we have to do heavy cleaning plus inventory, feel this company could well afford those services, for what is required of us we should be pay more for those extra difficult extra services, plus we do not get paid extra for those services, feel we are taken advantage off. This company I feel does not appreciate what their employees do for them. Our managers need to look at what Tess does for our schedules weekly. One last thought , we do not sell skirts at all, let's get to this century and allow slacks, many of them, no skirts, let's get real, you allow bare legs and no pants"

"I have spent five years working for Von Maur and have had an overall good experience. There is a huge disconnect in gender management. Throughout the entire company, there are only three male store managers and less floor managers."

"I've been working in retail for almost 15 years and this is perhaps the one store that I would not recommend to anyone to work for. If you clock in even a minute late because the time flips as you're punching in you are considered late and you can bet that you will be spoken to about it, then written up. We have horrible weather conditions up here and you cannot control it, but they don't really care, just leave early."

"It's not so much that I like working there, it's all that is available, I'm hoping to find something else soon"

"What they tell you in the interview is inflated about 500%. Don't bank on make the sales and money."

What don't you like about working at Von Maur?

"Von Maur is losing so many people because of customer service. Why should we give the best customer service when we are treat like subpar people. I guess this is normal since once they reach management they are considered the None People because of the chip that has been placed in their heads."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The customer is not always right. Stand behind your employees at least once while they are employed at the store."

What do you like about working at Von Maur?

"Not a whole lot, they micromanage the hell out of you!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Run!!! Only take a part time job here and make your self available only between 9-7, if you open you have to vacuum, breakdown boxes and do markdowns, all wearing a suit, or for you women, skirt/dresses and pantie hose."

What don't you like about working at Von Maur?

"Again, nothing is positive about this place, they get one person to do the work of 4, housekeeper, stock/dock associate, merchandiser, sales, oh and markdowns"

"Get rid of Tess, train the Department managers, they don't have a clue."

"When told it is a structured company, know that it really means very controlling. Ask lots of questions regarding hourly goals and expectations."

"mandatory weekends, electronic scheduling, outdated dress code, inconsistency on disciplinary actions, return policy is way too lenient,"

"Allow dept. mgrs. more freedom in decisions regarding dept's.Go back to people making schedules, higher commission,"

"The Employees non management The Commission made from sales and doing well at sales. It was not a job where one can stand there to collect a paycheck, You have to earn it."

What don't you like about working at Von Maur?

"Management was incompetent. Way too much micro-managing and when 7 people have conflicting interests on the same topic..."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make more effective use out of those meetings, set up a standard protocol for operations"

"As a new employee you were not given the benefit of doudt in situations regarding commission. Attitude was this was a customer of mine therefore I get the commission every time. It didn't matter that you actually spend time and helped the customer or not - very cut throat attitude between employees."

What do you like about working at Von Maur?

"Helping the customers, my attitude is that in any position you have, anyone who walks through your door is a customer."

What don't you like about working at Von Maur?

"Employees with more senority seem to be always right and were treated differently."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to employees comments - have two way conversation - open door policy, especially with new employees."
