2.5DO NOT apply for a purchasing position with Highland Homes-Austin. This is the worst company I have ever worked for. The management does not care about you unless you are a builder or are in sales. You are barely treated like a person there. you are not treated with respect or dignity, especially when you quit. Management barely acknowledges you and when they do, it is awkward short talk. This job is not real purchasing - it is DATA ENTRY.
I was LIED TO in my interview. I was told I would be directly interacting with vendors including business lunches. I was never introduced to vendors, including when my boss had me sign as a witness on a form for something personal he was doing on his house with a vendor. The man was in my office and I wasn't introduced.
The purchasing manager is a terrible communicator and should not be in any type of leadership role. Upper management has been notified of his shortfalls and that his team is unhappy, yet nothing has been done about it. He has 5,400 unread emails in his inbox alone, yet he has the nerve to micromanage his own team. He fails to delegate and has a "if it's not broke don't fix it" mentality. SAVE YOURSELF the time, energy and frustration, and just take my word for it. Don't. Do. It.
4.5I've worked for Highland Homes for 5+ years. It is a fantastic company to work for. They truly care about their employees and are eager to teach you new things. They also truly care about their customers and homeowners. They encourage everyone to do the right thing and live by their guiding principles.
