1.9The Trust has billions of dollars and they pay their employees NOTHING! Getty’s endowment is going into the pockets of the Getty elite and every employee is expendable in their eyes. Just look at what they did to the gallery teachers a few years ago. Along with teachers, designers, preparations and other exhibitions staff, management is more interested in acquiring more pieces to add for their temple on the hill rather then furthering your advancement. New acquisitions to the collection will hardly make up for what’s being lost in this talented pool of individuals, some employed at the Getty since it’s opening. Most of them hold masters and PhDs and will not be adequately replaced by volunteer docents. Want to know how to get rich? Hire volunteers to run your museum.
3.9I have worked for the J. Paul Getty Trust since 2018. The organization is wonderful because it believes in the professional growth of its employees. The organization is very structured in the sense that everyone is cross-trained and the machine continual functions. Everyone is a key player.
3.5I worked for The J. Paul Getty Trust through a Summer internship program, during my time there I had the opportunity to work with staff in education, across departments, and across sites to plan events, develop resources, and create program materials.
