1.5I just graduated from NIU in Spring 2017 and obtained a job shortly afterwards with Minuteman. The atmosphere is terrible, especially if you are a female. NO matter how much you work, they want more. They want to pay you a minimal wage/salary and expect overtime to be performed almost daily. The finance manager and finance director are terrible to work for. They give bad instructions, an impossible work load, and drool over any young woman that works in the accounting department. They lingered around my desk, stared, almost never respected personal space, and frequently wanted one-on-one meetings behind closed doors. During these one-on-one meetings with the finance director he would ask about my personal life, what I was doing after work, and if I would like to meet up at a bar. After these meetings it would get progressively worse and he would talk about how his last marriage failed and that he is now in an open marriage. He would always stand, sit, or lean uncomfortably close when I interacted with him. After turning him down multiple times and making it clear that I’m in a happy relationship with my fiance, I was let go for not fitting in with the team.
The finance manager also did many similar things. He would sit or stand too close. He talked about some of his uncomfortable extra-curricular activities (as in spending time with women other than his wife).
I brought this up to the HR manager and she blew me off saying that I must be exaggerating and not to worry about it. It was shortly after this incident that I saw her have a closed door meeting with the finance director and finance manager and then I was let go for not fitting in with the team.
YOUNG WOMEN BEWARE.
