"Nice place to work. However, there is a lot of protectionism for friends instead of the most qualified."

"I worked for Rio Tinto for over 20 years. In the last 3-4 years, I worked remotely for Rio Tinto. The only reason I left Rio Tinto was that the company decided everyone needed to work in an office. I was offered a severance package or the opportunity to relocate to Utah. I chose to take the severance package since my husband and I had just purchased a home in South Dakota."

Process Engineer Intern

"I had two internships with Rio Tinto and had an amazing experience. From day one I was given projects that I was to work independently on, and throughout my time was taught or given opportunities to learn the skills needed to finish that project. My supervisors made me feel valued and accepted, and I felt like everyone was part of a team."

"I worked at Rio Tinto for about 2 years. It was a great company, with great workers...however the leadership of the company was weak."

"I have worked for Rio Tinto for 6 years in a few different job titles. It has been very difficult for me to move up in this company. I am an ambitious engineer who works hard and looks for opportunities, but between my supervisor forgetting what level I am and screwing me on a promotion to my supervisors promising me for 1.5 years that I should be a senior level, I can't believe anything these managers say. The morale here has been terrible and up until last year, I've liked working here."
