South Dakota State University (SDSU) is a public, land-grant school with an enrollment of more than 12,000 students. Based in Brookings, South Dakota, it is the largest university in the state and one of the top research schools in the Midwest. South Dakota State University was established as a result of the 1862 Morrill Act, which granted federal land to states to be used for land-grant colleges.
