"My manager called me on a Friday, asked me to get on video, then proceeded to fire me while smiling at me the entire time. I asked her repeatedly why I was being fired, but she replied that she was not required to tell me. I told her I thought this was a misunderstanding and asked her if we could discuss it, but she refused. She then lied to my Staffing Agency, telling them I was fired because I hung up on her. I believe my firing was due to feedback that I gave in a document that I was writing. I gave my professional opinion and was fired for it. I was never given a warning or any explanation. My manager, prior to that day, had never even had a personal conversation with me since the day I was hired. This is not the first time I suspected some odd behavior and it is clear from talking to others that there is a lot of frustration and unease in the group because of some of the behavior from management. It is very clear to me why there is a backlog and I suspect it won't get much better anytime soon. During my brief time there, I was also repeatedly discouraged from calling/contacting engineering. This is the first time in my career that anyone ever told me NOT to contact engineering. As a tech writer, you need to have direct discussions with engineering or else you're not working efficiently. You are guessing and causing a lot of re-work. I'm sure TopCon is a good place to work. Just beware of the Tech Writing group."
"The internship opportunity provided to me was a valuable experience and helped me get a good understanding of how the industry works."
"I worked for 6 months as an intern in the agriculture business unit at Topcon Positioning Systems. My duties were similar to that of a test engineer for agricultural products. Overall I had a great experience with the company. Everyone I worked with was very welcoming and the expectations of the job were communicated well. It was a very positive work environment where I was able to learn a lot of things from many of my coworkers across multiple departments. It was a pleasure working at Topcon."
"There are currently 500+ employees that work on the AG side of our company. I work directly with the North American Sales Manager. I cover 7 states in the US by developing relationships with current and new dealers."
"I've worked for Topcon for three years, and while I find the job to pay reasonably well and have great co-workers, I am looking for new challenges, bigger job growth potential, and a shorter commute. Attrition and budget constraints, as well as my expertise, has seemed to have pigeonholed me into my position. Sometimes, it can be bad to be very good at what you do, so I'm looking for other opportunities."
"It's a good company to work for, but need to improve opportunities for growth"
"Worked with Topcon for almost 7 years, great people, and great work environment. The compensation is lacking but and company management leaves more to be desired."
