Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) is the largest aftermarket automotive parts association in the United States and has over 23,000 members who deal with many different aspects of the aftermarket industry. Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, it was started in 1999 as a nonprofit organization by merging two existing associations, Automotive Parts and Accessories Association (APPA) and the Automotive Service Industry Association (ASIA).
AAIA’s membership consists of ten different subgroups that represent different segments of the automotive aftermarket business. These various groups provide services in manufacturing, selling, distribution and installation of the many aftermarket supplies as well as publishing and educational services.
Under the umbrella of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry, nearly four million people are employed in over 500,000 locations. The aftermarket addresses anything that happens to a vehicle after its original sale. There is a great variety of services included in this industry ranging from sales and education to hands-on repair services.
