"I have been an Operations Manager with Mclane for close to two years with nothing but good recommendation to say about the company."
"The employees are young and need structure in Good work ethics. Management interferes with the authority of the supervisors, so the employees don't know who's instructions to follow. Compensation for the hours worked is not enough to justify the number of hours the supervisor has to work."
"I have worked for McLane Company for over a year. And found it to be a stable company with a history of good service."
"Run, don't walk from this horridly, wretched company. Some of the most toxic leadership I have ever seen. In addition, it is a sweatshop. You will work in excess of 60 hours a week consistently - more during peak seasons. Even on your only day off, you will be asked to come in. There is zero work-life balance and you are lied to on hire about the amount of hours you will be working. Upper management will try to extract every hour they can get out of salaried workers. Constant back-stabbing and tattle-tailing by co-managers and throwing you under the best instead of working together to resolve issues. Many of the workers are lazy, will abuse FMLA to call out on the first night of the week making you do their work as well. Equipment is seldom fixed and/or it is jerry rigged making it a very unsafe place. OSHA and worker's rights are frequently violated. At the Lakewood facility they directed supervisors to have employees work on their legal breaks. If this place isn't screaming for unionization (and upper management is petrified of unions), I don't know what is. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE."
"I have worked for McLane for a year now. Great company made up of great employees. however, the management is a bit antiquated in their approach, and progression within the company isn't very much promoted."
"McLane Company has a rich 120 year history and a very people oriented work environment. In my role as a member of the I.T. team, the work is challenging but the ability to move into another role within the I.T. team or advance seems limited given the unique fact that McLane is a company where people have careers that can span 10-20 years. So change occurs slowly, which is great for stability but an obstacle to advancement."
"Will promise you the world when you are in the hiring process. Don't believe what they (HR Mgr and Transportation Mgr) tell you regarding pay structure and hours you will work... completely untrue. GET YOUR JOB OFFER IN WRITING or else you will regret your choice to work here... you will have no leg to stand on once you realize you were not told the truth. I left once I discovered there were drivers there for longer than I was that were still not making the money they were originally promised and not working the hours they should be. Disappointed. No ethics. Horrible, expensive benefits. HIGH deductibles to meet and EXPENSIVE payroll deductions compared to other trucking companies. DO YOUR HOMEWORK on this company. I got benefits and couldn't afford them based on what little pay I was making, so I found another job quick."
"The people were great to get along with, but I felt my manager made it more difficult than it needed to be to do my job. I felt that senseless things and obstacles were put in my way to make our jobs increasingly more difficult."
"I worked with McLane company as account manager for retail chains. I enjoyed the atmosphere and support was excellent in supplying customers with needs to improve sales and item mix within stores."
"Started as a contractor and was hired on full time. While the company's benefits and work environment is one of the best, the pay for their employees is sub-par. I would recommend the company for any entry-level technician."
"Great benefits, great pay, and a great company to grow old with. This is not the place for lazy people. You have to work some holidays, but when you do they always provide lunch and snacks thoughout the day."
"Nice company, good wages and bonuses."
"The company is a US Base Food Distribution. The IT Division of the company has a wide range of infrastructure in Virtualization and would be very beneficial if you're main job is in the I.T. Headquarters."
