3.4Tyson foods is a an outstanding company to work for, the biggest issues that the company has are within each location, the Wilkesboro location for example is the only one that I can speak for and while this facility is very large it also has a great deal of room for improvement from the top level management within the facility with a change at the very top the Wilkesboro facility could be an outstanding location to work in. Poor training and management skills at the top level result in a level of turnover that is much too high to have a successful company and the basis of this lies in pushing the employees and managers too hard due to a constant problem of being short staffed. This results in more stress on both management and hourly employees within the company. I would however recommend working here to anyone as there is immense room for growth within the company and there is a high demand for products offered, and once staffing issues are corrected the workload for each person would drop from doing 2-3 positions per person to just doing the job that you are hired to do.
2.9They (Tyson) pride themselves on being a family oriented company and that may be the case for their office, dispatch, and plant workers. But for us drivers they could care less if we want to make it home for a weekend to see our families. And even if we were able to come home they get us home in the middle of the night Friday night to Saturday morning and then expect us to leave out early on Sunday. It's like why even bother to send us home at all. And I'm supposed to get my daughter every other weekend but end up barely even seeing her or spending much time with her because of the short time I am home and the fact that we gotta sleep some of that time too. They are not the company I thought they were going to be or even that they claimed to be.
2.6Poor management at Tyson Information technology, HR group (IS HR).
I have worked with various groups in IT at Tyson, and most groups are either ok, or are pretty good. However, I have never seen such complete incompetence from the management like I see in IS HR team. Our management does not care or support their own people; we constantly have to deal with snobbish and at times degrading comments. We are being talked down to, as if we are misbehaving children, not adults.
What’s worse, is that many of these issues have been brought up to HR’s attention by our team members, including a large meeting to discuss leadership issues. HR has yet to address any of these issues or help resolve any of these problems in our team. Our “leadership” is carrying on as it always has with no repercussions.
My advice: if you are going to join IT team at Tyson, stay away from IS HR group. Join another IT team.
