"I have worked for the YMCA of San Francisco for a number of years and it was a rewarding experience that I do not take for granted. It has helped me become the person I am today with the skills I have today. I am extremely grateful for the friends I have made along the way."
"Great place to work, if you love kids and need a summer job, get an application!"
"Great work environment. Many of the coworkers are friendly."
"YMCA of the Rockies is a place that I don't recommend."
"Loved almost everything about it, the kids, parents the program. What I did not like about it was people did not want to improve the program, just wanted it to stay as it was the way it was for all those years. Sad to say the program suffered due to lack of vision."
"The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is a cause-driven not for profit organization which bases its services based on the community needs. The YMCA focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility to the community it serves. It is great to be a part of this cause and know that the organization you work for is making continuous positive changes to the community. This not only motivates you as an employee but also strengthens everyone in the community."
"I worked for the YMCA in Dripping Springs from 2011 to 2014. The way they paid me was shameful. I made $8.25 per hour, working regularly as a lifeguard, and after 2 years, when they promoted me to head guard, I only got a 50 cent raise. They pay their salary employees pretty well, but the hourly employees get treated like dirt, and paid like dirt. Not to mention lousy payroll causing late paychecks on a regular basis. YMCA of Dripping Springs: you should be ashamed of yourself."
"I've worked at the YMCA for 6 years. It is a great company. I love the kids, the staff, the parents and the entire community. They are the ones who make the YMCA the Y."
"There is no room to grow within my department."
"Worker here for 8 years, great benefits but poor pay."
"I've worked for El Camino YMCA since 2012. We really are the best kept secret in town. We are so much more than a gym and a swim. Every year we work with our members, community and other partners to provide resources and opportunities for everyone to strive in. We give everyone the opportunity to participate and be a part of our organization even if they cannot pay. We don't turn anyone away for their inability to pay. I take pride in my work because I know I'm making a difference."
"I really like working here but there is no way for me to move up. I have been working at the YMCA for 9 years now and I have interviewed for higher positions and still haven't gotten anywhere yet. My love for this place has most definitely decreased."
"I have worked for the YMCA for almost two years now as a Lifeguard and am very disappointed with them. Raises are based on our yearly reviews, and supervisors would not give above a certain score to keep from giving raises. Caps were also placed on our hours so they didn't have to offer us a full time position. And the worst of it all for the lifeguarding position was that they cut lifeguard shifts down to one guard for 4 to 5 hours at a time. No breaks! Overall very bad lifeguard job."
"I worked almost 11 years for the Central Florida YMCA and I can say it has been the best job I've ever had. You are allowed to grow within the company and your skills and performance are always recognized."
"I joined the Clarksville YMCA team in 2006 as a lifeguard. I was offered many opportunities for advancement and they also paid for several certifications. If you are willing to work hard you are able to move up within the company. When regretfully having to leave the YMCA in 2010 I was a building supervisor. I would work for the YMCA again."
