"My employees would have more knowledge of their job and take initiative. Family and staff communication would be more frequent."

"I really don't have any, cause management does a great job."

"I liked the children and it was a great first job, but it made me realize this is not for me."

"I would tell them not to do it because they will regret it."

"I do not like working at the YMCA because of the supervisors and the lack of communication."

"I would make a lot of changes to curriculum and I would hire people who actually liked working with children. I would make the environment a fun and pleasant work space."

"Feel like I'm all alone all day with no support from my coworkers."

"Don't focus so much on the money, but instead on the customers and the employees. Need more team building."

"It's a fun, positive work environment to be a part of, and helping people get physically fit is rewarding; in essence, it's hands-on customer service and support to meet the athletic goals of an individual."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you enjoy physical fitness and helping people, then this is the place to be! Just don't expect to be rolling in dough, cause it doesn't exist in this business. The staff membership to the Y is quite a sweet perk though, so getting a job here just for that is almost worth it."

What don't you like about working at YMCA?

"A lot of the time, I feel my services could be better used elsewhere in a technical field (outside of physical fitness/health recreation), and sometimes the opportunities to help people just aren't available because there's already a coach assigned to so-and-so individual. There's a significant amount of dead time on the days when I don't have any clients, new or returning, so I end up following our daily checklist of cleaning tasks for the better part of the day, which is tiresome and underwhelming."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I'm not sure if a Y membership price is full justified at close to $50/month, so I would try and figure out ways to make it more economical for people to join my fitness community."

"Don't apply here unless you just want a quick way to get some cash."

"Select members of management, this is a job but not to be taken to this degree."

"Relax, try and have fun a little bit more, relax."

"I enjoyed working with the children at the camp and making sure that they were always engaged in fun, safe activities."

"For those who may apply for this job, I would suggest that they be sure that they prove they have a lot of energy and can be responsible for others."

"There was nothing that I did not like about working for this program."

"I would just suggest that when hiring new employees for the summer that they be sure to hire responsible, fun-loving individuals."

"The people I worked with. Interacting with the customers day after day."

"Work hard and achieve your goals, but keep a healthy work life balance from the beginning, or you will never get it back."

What don't you like about working at YMCA?

"Competition between departments. Everyone felt like they were being asked to do more work and bring in more revenue with less and less resources, so the willingness to help out other departments and work as an overall team was diminishing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Evaluate employees more with the feedback of their peers and staff. We had a lot of great people who were under-appreciated, and a lot of not so great people being awarded."

"I really enjoyed working with the youth of the community."

"You have to love children and enjoy working with them."

"I didn't like the pay salary or the fact that my hours could change at the last minute."

"I would not call my employees the day before telling them they had to come in tomorrow."
