Be as aware as possible of the schedule you're setting for your staff. Working til 2am, with a 6am meeting the next day, is hard. Try to make your staff as aware as possible of upcoming events they would need to prepare for, and keep an eye on their interactions with each other.

2.7 The Books-a-Million location where I work is, overall, a very positive workplace: managers are understanding and supportive, do their best to be attentive to employee's needs, and try their best to compensate for lack of support from higher up. That said, there is a vast gulf between high-level managers and corporate and the managers and employees who work in their stores. Individual stores have to muddle through unwieldy corporate directives and inadequate pay for their work.

4 I've worked for Booksamillion for about 10 years and was saddened that they chose to close my store in Sanford. The pandemic unfortunately was very hard on most of the brick and mortar stores and it was a corporate decision. I made some very amazing customer relationships over the years with devoted customers and will miss them terrible as we became sort of a family there. They had brought their children in for many an event and we got to see them grow and flourish over the years. I do love books and got to love many friendships I cultivated. To see that face light up when you fulfill your customers request or need is delightful.
