"This place at first seems great to work at, but you quickly start to notice how staff tend to sit on their butts. New workers get shifted majority of work while senior staff chat and mess with their phones. Shift Leaders will work when managers are present, but they will slack off when management isn’t present. They will do part of the cleaning properly sometimes and sometimes it will be a sloppy job. The staff act “fake friendly” and tend to give off a clique vibe. You are told to always do every single thing asked of you and not allowed to say no. Even if the task being given to you is an unfair workload. Shift leaders aren’t friendly they will mostly just give you a task and ignore you. You can work your butt off and no one offers to help out. Most of the time you’re expected to work by yourself with not much knowledge. They don’t educate on warning signs for when dogs are about to fight, are uncomfortable, sick, or injured. You’re expected to figure this out in the play yard on your own.I literally got told “you’ll figure most of this out from experience in the play yard”. Which is kind of ironic since they let me go over an incident in a play yard I didn’t even have the knowledge to pick up on. I was let go over not grabbing a dog in time and a shift leader entering my yard to assist with the situation. I was told I would get shown videos on previous fights they have had in the past so I could have a grasp on what to watch out for, but they never did show me. I wasn’t instructed on how to best handle the larger dogs well. Ultimately they should look for people with experience if they want to put poor amount of effort into training new staff on dog behavior. Also expect most of the staff to ignore you often and just block out what you say. I had an incident where a shift leader blatantly ignored me about a dog being loss right in front of a customer because they were “too busy admiring the dogs going home”."

"Really enjoyed my time at Camp Bow Wow!"

What do you like about working at Camp Bow Wow?

"Working with a large variety of dogs, flexible schedules, easy to request days off"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You MUST love dogs and be very patient and tolerable of all of their antics. There is no position that does not involve picking up poop. Be prepared to have your schedule change week-to-week and you will have to adjust your personal life accordingly. Long hours of standing around watching dogs, where you will be jumped on, scratched, bruised, and possibly bitten."

What don't you like about working at Camp Bow Wow?

"Low pay, no chance for promotion, no hazard pay even with the chance of bites and other serious injuries, no overtime, schedule changes weekly, work early hours, only made 8k/year even with max hours and highest pay of all the employees"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Give more incentive for employees to stay longer than a year, allow the opportunity for more frequent raises/promotions"
