"I've worked for Grady for 4 years and the workers were friendly and respectful."

What don't you like about working at Grady Memorial Hospital?
"A part of a solid business unit is that it has solid people who are solidly in their position and very well may not leave until they retire, so, particularly in my line of work, there was little room for internal career advancement. Initiatives/lines of communication can tend to break down as they filter down from top management through the ranks, although this is quite a common thing to observe."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Communicate openly and directly with employees rather than play the telephone game passing things down through hierarchical layers: employees don't like feeling insulated from news and knowing we're receiving only what each member at each layer decides to share with the subsequent layer of staff. And, although the OhioHealth Corporate University website has many good knowledge-development activities, this is not equivalent to career and professional development opportunities: the latter are processes which must be built into the operational system of the organization to allow for internal development and advancement of the organization's own employees--without this, OhioHealth and other healthcare organizations will be relegated to continuing the 'poaching game' whereby employees skip back and forth between organizations as that is the best or only method for career advancement."
