"I enjoyed working for L3 communications."
"I have worked for this company on 2 occasions. Once for seven years and again for 13 years. It is a small part of a large company. I like the fact that it is small enough that you get chances to do different things unlike some of the other large companies. Though they say that their benefits are comparable to industry I feel they are a little over priced. The employee is responsible for 25% of the cost and that adds up with the companies limited choices for insurance. This is a good place to start off on a career to "test the waters" and see what you like. Then try other places to do what you like."
"I worked for L-3 for more that 13 years. Unlike some others in the industry, L-3 allows you to experience different tasks and to learn different abilities. One problem being is that sometimes they can throw the person to the wolves. If you do not have the right Lead/boss you can be left hanging having to learn things on your own."
"Processes are outdated and management is lacking."
"Great place to work in the area. Low cost of living high compensation."
"With the sequester and other government influences going on, the company has it's challenges and some of them are formidable. Across the whole of the division there needs to be better uniformity and processes up front. Design for robustness and manufacturability would help moral in the factory."
"Working for a subsidiary of L-3 comes with career challenges. Contract work varies and each project manager is very different. I would recommend that anyone seeking work with this company to take the time to research the project manager for the job you are applying for. I would also recommend you research your options for follow-on work once the contract is complete. If you decide to work for any company that falls under L3, utilize the opportunities they offer for additional training and certs."
"Good overall company. It was my second time working with them."
"I have worked for a sub-company of L-3 Communications. I enjoyed every moment of the job and co-workers. Great company to work for! I spent years developing course-ware and the company offers great benefits and pay. Their ability to compete with other companies is outstanding. The company is high-paced and offers great job transferring opportunities."
"I have worked for L-3 Communications since 2008. It is a great company to work for."
"I am a contractor at L-3 in the bay area. There is a push to stay compliant with FDA rules and yet a reluctance to teach compliance behaviors. Training is an identified gap in the organization. There are nice software and automated tools but the training for the employees renders this company a great risk as it moves forward towards greater competition and greater FDA visibility. Risky business considering the leadership is comprised of mostly contract personnel."
"This job started great, but things changed and I was laid off."
"When first hired there it was a good place to work and the change came in and it was bad all around. people was not happy, the work was not there, and management was not there to support their team."
"Great place to learn and grow."
"Politics affected many aspects of my job. It seemed that the work was less important than the rules one needed to follow. Keeping up with the "Ethics Modules" and time cards trumped getting the job done."
